How We Harvest

Preparing the soil


Soil Conditioning: Prepared by digging and mixing in organic compost. Soil is the key to healthy and beautiful roses.

Variety Insert

It takes up to 4 days until the grafts hold to the plant. A grafted rose is one where the 'bud eye' of a desired variety is attached, or 'grafted' onto another variety that is used to supply the roots.

Finalizing the Growing

New rose plants take approximately 3 growing cycles before producing the high quality flowers required to meet our standards. Once the rose plant is producing at its best, it takes approximately 85 days to produce each rose, depending on variety, season and, especially, sunlight conditions.

With domestic and international certifications, such as Flower Label Program, EurepGap, Max Havelaar, FLO, among others, San Jorge operates under strict controls and guidelines to protect the environment while effectively growing world-class flowers.

In The Field Hydration

In order to grow roses of the highest quality – roses that will open beautifully and last longer - hydration is the most important step during harvest. Hydration takes around 5 to 10 minutes and is performed immediately after the roses are cut.
